Patrick Outhwaite is an Assistant Professor in Medieval English Language and Culture at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. His work focuses on late-medieval literature, religious controversies, and the medical humanities, with expertise in palaeography, codicology, and manuscript studies. He teaches courses on medieval literature, magic and medicine, and the transition from manuscripts to printed books. Outhwaite holds a PhD from McGill University (2021) and has held prestigious awards including the NWO VENI grant (2024-2029) and the B. Jenkes Dissertation Prize (2021). His research integrates literary, medical, and legal sources to explore topics like patient skepticism in late-medieval England and the intersection of theology and medicine.
