Professor Patrick Mark is a Professor of Nephrology and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health (BHF Glasgow Centre). He leads the United Kingdom Cardio-Renal Clinical Study Group and serves as the Chief Scientist Office Scotland Clinical Lead for Renal Research. His research focuses on improving outcomes for kidney failure patients through advanced imaging, clinical trials targeting cardiovascular risk, and epidemiological studies in diabetes-related kidney disease. He holds a PhD awarded the Bellahouston Medal and graduated as Brunton Medallist in Medicine (1999).

- Research Themes: Kidney transplantation, cardiovascular complications in CKD, and clinical data analytics for renal disease.
His most recent work includes trials like ACHIEVE and MIROCKD evaluating therapies for CKD, as well as studies on multimorbidity, cancer risks in CKD patients, and biomarker analysis. He has held roles from Clinical Lecturer (2006–2011) to Reader (2015) before becoming Professor (2018).

Grants & Leadership: Leads UK Kidney Research Consortium initiatives and has secured funding from the British Heart Foundation. Current projects include investigating SGLT2 inhibitors in cardiorenal protection and the role of MRI in renal tissue assessment.
