Patrick Leitner

Patrick Leitner is a Researcher at the Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem Management, affiliated with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). His work focuses on benthic invertebrate ecology, freshwater biodiversity, and environmental impact assessment in rivers, with a particular emphasis on hydropeaking effects, sediment management, and invasive species dynamics. Over 15+ years, he has led or contributed to 25+ research projects funded by national institutions, EU bodies, and private companies, including key roles in Federal Ministry-backed initiatives like SuREmMa+ and ÖkoReSch.
