Patrick Joseph Caoile is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature and Creative Writing at Hamilton College. His interdisciplinary research bridges postcolonial studies, diaspora studies, and creative writing, with a focus on Filipino American and contemporary American immigrant literary contexts. He also explores intersections with Gothic fiction and pop culture analysis.
- B.A. in English from Saint Peter's University
- M.A. in English from Seton Hall University
- Ph.D. in English with a creative writing focus from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
His creative practice examines the Filipino American experience through characters navigating fragmented lives between the Philippines and the U.S., both literally and figuratively. This includes themes of liminality, cultural hybridity, and identity negotiation in diasporic settings.
Caoile's publications span literary criticism and creative writing. His critical work analyzes diasporic identity in Mia Alvar's fiction, while his creative writing investigates Gothic influences and pop culture intersections. Recent publications appear in storySouth, Porter House Review, and the Growing Up Filipino 3 anthology.
