Patrick J Hall is a Research Fellow at the Health Services Management Centre, University of Birmingham and a Research Associate at the University of Sheffield Centre for International Research on Care, Labour & Equalities.
His research focuses on:
- Social Care Policy across the UK's four nations
- Care Ethics frameworks
- Comparative analysis of adult social care systems
- National and regional care typologies
Dr. Hall is currently writing a monograph with Professor Catherine Needham titled 'Worlds of UK Care', which systematically compares adult social care policy across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. His work examines how different philosophical and practical approaches to care manifest within the UK's devolved systems. Prior to his academic positions, he served as a fellow of the King's Fund and worked as a social care commissioner, providing him with valuable practical policy experience that informs his research perspective.
His scholarly contributions focus on understanding the structural and ethical dimensions of care systems, with particular attention to how policy variations across the UK nations impact service delivery and recipient experiences. Dr. Hall actively participates in the health services research community, having been listed as a speaker at the HSR UK Conference 2020.
