Patrick Hopkins

Patrick Hopkins serves as Professor of Philosophy and Jennie Carlisle Golding Chair of Philosophy at Millsaps College, with a concurrent appointment as Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) where he is a principal staff member of the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities.

Dr. Hopkins specializes in moral psychology and applied ethics, with research spanning biomedical ethics, science-technology intersections, gender studies, and religious philosophy. His work integrates laboratory neuroscience experience with philosophical inquiry to address contemporary ethical dilemmas in medicine and society.

Recent publications like the edited volume Sexual Ethics: An Anthology (2023) and Viral Heroism (2021) demonstrate consistent focus on real-world ethical applications in biomedicine, technology, and crisis response, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement across philosophy, medicine, and cultural studies.
