Professor Patrick Hesp is a Strategic Professor of Coastal Studies at Flinders University, South Australia, and holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Louisiana State University (LSU). His academic roles include leadership in environmental science and coastal research across multiple institutions. He earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Massey University and the University of Sydney, followed by a DSc from Massey University in 2013.
Research Interests: Coastal dune geomorphology, aeolian processes, Holocene coastal evolution, and surfzone-beach interactions. He has conducted fieldwork globally, including the USA, Canada, Australia, France, and Brazil. His work emphasizes understanding coastal systems' dynamics and resilience to climate change.
Grants & Awards:
- Aust$380,000 grant (2022) for studying Younghusband Peninsula evolution.
- Recipient of the Distinguished Career Award from the International Society for Aeolian Research (2023).
- Over 360 publications and 8572 citations, with an h-index of 49.
Teaching & Collaboration: Taught courses on coastal geomorphology and environmental geography. Collaborates internationally with institutions in South Africa, Namibia, Israel, and Brazil. His research teams include experts in sediment transport and coastal management.
