He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and M.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, along with dual undergraduate degrees from UC San Diego. His research focuses on the intersection of philosophy with evolutionary biology, ecology, and scientific methodology, particularly examining confirmation, explanation, and idealization in biological sciences. Recent work explores cooperation dynamics, social behavior evolution, and the philosophical implications of evolutionary models.
He has taught courses on Philosophy of Biology, Climate Change Ethics, and Moral Psychology at Tufts. His 2015 Mellon Foundation grant supported research on prosocial and antisocial behaviors' evolutionary roles.
