Patrick Cottrell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English & Literary Arts at the University of Denver's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. His work bridges creative writing with academic inquiry, focusing on queer/trans literature, nonhumans in literature, and interdisciplinary approaches merging theory and practice.

Research & Writing: Cottrell is the author of Sorry to Disrupt the Peace (McSweeney's) and has been published in Granta, Buzzfeed, Vice, Bomb, and The White Review. His work explores themes of queerness, nonhuman narratives, and experimental forms. He guest-edited a McSweeney's Quarterly issue dedicated to queer fiction and has received international translation in Korean, French, Italian, and Turkish.

Teaching & Engagement: Teaches courses on nonhumans in literature, queer/trans literature, and hybrid theory-practice seminars. Actively contributes to literary communities through editing and public writing.
