Patrick Costigan

Patrick Costigan is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. His research focuses on orthopedic biomechanics, utilizing state-of-the-art 3D motion analysis systems to investigate conditions like knee osteoarthritis, surgical interventions, and device effectiveness. He collaborates with engineers, surgeons, and therapists in a shared motion analysis facility.

Education: BPHE from the University of New Brunswick, MSc and PhD from Queen's University. Teaching includes courses on biomechanics, ergonomics, and clinical motion analysis. Office: KINE 305.

Current research emphasizes knee load analysis, clinical evaluation of knee implants, and the efficacy of OA unloader braces. His work bridges engineering and clinical practice to improve patient outcomes through load-altering interventions.
