Patrick Chardonnens

Patrick Chardonnens is a Lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) School of Management and Law, where he has been employed since November 2022. He also serves as Deputy Head of the MAS Corporate Finance program and teaches Financial Management at both bachelor's and master's levels. Additionally, he works as a part-time Consultant Lecturer at HSW Freiburg, focusing on Controlling and Finance.

His research focuses on Corporate Performance Management, Earnings Management, and the application of Generative AI in Finance. He also investigates Board Diversity and its impact on corporate performance, alongside incentive systems for employees and SME financing challenges.

Recent publications include empirical studies on small loss avoidance in Europe and the disappearance of zero-earnings discontinuity in financial reporting. He contributes to the annual KMU ZH Monitor series analyzing Swiss SME conditions, and has explored accrual prediction models using machine learning.

Chardonnens has held prior roles as Deputy Head of Finance & Accounting at the University of Freiburg (2019-2022) and worked in corporate finance positions at PostFinance and in2comp GmbH. He maintains professional networks through LinkedIn and ORCID (ID: 0000-0003-2693-8008).
