Patricia Thomas

Patricia Thomas is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Science & Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She specializes in therapeutic recreation, disability studies, and cultural diversity, with a focus on innovative online and hybrid teaching methods.

• 2010 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Academic Staff Outstanding Teaching Award
• ATRA President’s Award for Outstanding Service (1988, 2002, 2007)

Her instructional strategies include creative icebreakers, Second Life simulations, and blogs to engage a geographically diverse student population. She has held leadership roles at the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) and the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA), including serving as chair of the NCTRC Board of Directors (2013-2014).
