Patricia V. Pietrantonio is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University and Texas A&M AgriLife Research Fellow. Her research focuses on insect toxicology and physiology using biochemical, molecular, and cellular approaches, targeting arthropod control mechanisms with emphasis on G protein-coupled receptors.
Research interests span:
- Novel targets for arthropod control
- G protein-coupled receptor pharmacology
- Insecticide resistance in disease vectors
- High-throughput screening of chemical libraries
- Physiology of invasive mosquitoes and ticks
Publications primarily focus on molecular mechanisms of insecticide resistance, neuropeptide receptor characterization, and innovative control strategies for disease vectors, with recent work emphasizing tick kinin receptors and mosquito kdr mutations.
Awards and service include:
- Texas A&M AgriLife Research Fellow
- President of the Acarological Society of America (2022)
- Editorial Board: Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Editorial Board: Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology
- Former Associate Editor of Pest Management Science
Has graduated 9 PhD students, 3 M.S., 1 M.Ag. students, and trained 19 post-docs and 12 international visiting scientists. Current service includes TAMU senator (2023-2024) and Chair of Tenure and Promotion Committee.
Leads the Pietrantonio Lab researching arthropod endocrinology and molecular toxicology, collaborating with national and international teams on vector control strategies.
