Bianca Henriques-Santos, D.Sc., is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University, working in Dr. Patricia Pietrantonio’s Lab. Her research focuses on vector biology, enzyme biochemistry, and insect physiology, with recent emphasis on G protein-coupled receptors in mosquitoes and ticks as potential pest control tools.
Education:
- B.S. Biology, Fluminense Federal University
- M.S. Parasite Biology, FIOCRUZ
- D.Sc. Cellular and Molecular Biology, FIOCRUZ
Research Interests: Dr. Henriques-Santos investigates mosquito and tick physiology, particularly peptidase kinetics, neuropeptide receptors, and their regulatory roles in insect behavior. Her work aims to identify novel ligands for these receptors to develop innovative pest control strategies.
Labs/Teams: Pietrantonio’s Lab at Texas A&M University.
