Patricia Mordaunt serves as a Lecturer at Technological University Dublin within the School of Physics, Clinical and Optometric Sciences, where she teaches the BSc Optometry and BSc Ophthalmic Dispensing programmes. She holds dual leadership roles as Co-programme Chair and Practice Education Coordinator for the Ophthalmic Dispensing Programme while serving on the Sciences & Health Faculty Board responsible for academic policy implementation.
Her educational qualifications include:

- PG Dip Third Level Learning and Teaching (2018)
- Entitlement to fit contact lenses (2000)
- Diploma in Dispensing Optics (ABDO) (1999)
- National Diploma in Business Studies (Export law) (1994)
Her professional expertise spans visual science, optical dispensing techniques, and primary care optometry with specialized focus on progressive lens technology, high myopia/hypermetropia correction, and prism dispensing. She actively advances the field through continuing professional development initiatives and international eye care projects.
Her distinguished recognition includes:
- Fellow of the Irish Association of Dispensing Opticians (FBDO)
She secured significant research funding as core team member for the Irish Aid/HEA Mozambique Eyecare Project (2008-2013, €2.41 million) alongside Dr. James Loughman and Prof. Kovin Naidoo. Her leadership extends to former presidency of the Irish Association of Dispensing Opticians (2004-2006) and extensive volunteer work with Vision Aid Overseas across four African projects.
Professional service includes CORU Education Advisor for proficiency standards revision, membership on the Opticians Board of Ireland Education Committee (2006-2010), and Irish Aid Programme of Strategic Cooperation involvement.
