Patricia MacCormack is a Professor of Continental Philosophy at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her work focuses on Deleuzean thought, queer theory, feminism, posthuman ethics, horror cinema, animal rights, and death studies. She has authored influential books like Posthuman Ethics (2012) and The Ahuman Manifesto (2020), and edited volumes such as The Animal Catalyst (2014).
MacCormack holds a PhD from Monash University (2000) and has held prestigious fellowships including a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2021). Her research bridges philosophy, film, and cultural studies, with notable contributions to cinesexuality theory and death activism. She has lectured globally, appeared on film Blu-ray extras, and contributed to art exhibitions in venues like Berlin Transmediale and the BFI.
Her work emphasizes ethical engagements with the posthuman condition, challenging anthropocentrism through interdisciplinary approaches. Recent projects explore 'queer death activism' and the intersections of art, ecology, and abolitionism in the Anthropocene.
