Dr. Patricia Lievens is an Associate Professor at the University of Verona, affiliated with the Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences. Her academic sector is Cellular and Experimental Biology (BIOS-10/A), with research sectors focusing on Cell Signalling, Signal Transduction, Exosome Biology and Genetics.
She holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathology from the University of Verona and a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Siena. Her research primarily investigates post-transcriptional and post-translational gene expression regulation in genetic diseases such as Kennedy’s disease, prion diseases, chondrodysplasia, and autism, alongside cellular signaling mechanisms.
Dr. Lievens has contributed to research projects like the biochemical approach to aromatic amino acid decarboxylase deficiency and FGFR3-related bone diseases, focusing on receptor tyrosine kinases and post-translational modifications. She is involved in teaching across multiple programs, including Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, Sport and Exercise Science, and Medical Radiology Techniques, with roles in departmental governance and student training committees.
Her office is located at Istituti Biologici Blocco B Ala VECCHIA, Floor 2, Room 32A.02.15, and she maintains office hours on Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. She is associated with laboratories such as the Laboratorio di Biologia applicata e genetica molecolare and Laboratorio di Genetica umana, diagnostica molecolare e bioinformatica.
