Dr. Gott's research delves into feminist literary criticism with focused examinations of British authors Charlotte Brontë and Jean Rhys, Irish American writers including Mary McGarry Morris, and the detective fiction genre through analyses of Sara Paretsky's work. Her scholarship systematically investigates gender dynamics, cultural identity formation, and literary genre evolution across historical contexts from Victorian novels to contemporary crime fiction.
Her publications reveal thematic continuity in exploring women's literary contributions through diverse lenses including postcolonial perspectives on "Jane Eyre," sentimentality in Irish American fiction, and the feminist reclamation of detective genres. This trajectory demonstrates increasing interdisciplinary connections between literary analysis and cultural studies.
Dr. Gott teaches comprehensive coursework spanning ENGL 101 Freshman English through advanced seminars like ENGL 383 Modern Irish Literature and ENGL 377 Contemporary Poetry. Her commitment to experiential learning is evidenced by leading the UWSP semester abroad program to Australia in fall 2008, significantly expanding students' cultural and academic horizons.
