Patty Douglas is an Associate Professor of Disability Studies and Inclusive Education at Brandon University's Faculty of Education. Her research critiques deficit-based approaches to disability, emphasizing critical autism studies, decolonial methodologies, and arts-based practices. She leads the Re•Storying Autism in Education project, funded by SSHRC, which reimagines educational practices through multimedia storytelling. Douglas is a former special education teacher and mother of an autistic son, positioning her work at intersections of neurodivergence, motherhood, and decolonization. Her projects include Indigenous approaches to autism education and collaborations with disability arts organizations.
