Patrice L. Capers

Dr. Patrice L. Capers serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology within the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics at The Citadel. She teaches general biology and a range of physiology courses to undergraduate students at the military college.

Dr. Capers' research interests focus on evaluating the quality of obesity-related research, with previous work examining the nutritional complications of sickle cell disease. Her expertise spans multiple biological disciplines including cellular physiology, nutritional science, and disease pathology. She has developed a research program that critically assesses methodological approaches in obesity-related studies.

Dr. Capers has created numerous research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students while collaborating with other faculty members across campus. Her teaching portfolio includes foundational biology courses and specialized physiology instruction that serves both the Corps of Cadets and civilian students at The Citadel.
