Colleen Quaas

Colleen Quaas is an Assistant Professor of Biology at The Citadel, affiliated with the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics. Her research focuses on chromatin biology mechanisms—specifically DNA replication, transcription, and repair—and how dysregulation of these processes contributes to cancer and other diseases.

• Studies mutagenic compounds in local waterways and their impact on DNA-templated processes
• Teaches genetics, molecular genetics, and introductory biology courses

Dr. Quaas earned her PhD in Biomedical Science from the Medical University of South Carolina and a BS in Biology from the College of Charleston Honors College.
