Dr. Patience Nyamunda is a Lecturer in Education (People, Place & Social Change) at the University of Glasgow's School of Education. She holds a BA (Hons) in Economic History and MSc in Population Studies from the University of Zimbabwe, followed by a PhD in Development Studies from the Higher Education and Human Development Research Centre in South Africa. Her research focuses on higher education quality, access for marginalized groups, and human development frameworks, particularly in Global South contexts.
Her work examines policy-practice gaps in Zimbabwean and South African higher education systems, with emphases on internationalization, virtual mobility challenges, and barriers faced by low-income and migrant students. She has contributed to projects like the ESRC/DFID-funded study on low-income student access and the British Council's 'Schools Connect' initiative addressing girls' education in Africa. Nyamunda is a member of the HDCA Education Thematic Group and a reviewer for Compare: A Journal of International and Comparative Education.
