Pasquale Daniele Cavaliere is an Associate Professor at the Department of Innovation Engineering, University of Salento, Italy. He is based at the Ecotekne Center in Lecce and specializes in metallurgy, surface coatings, powder metallurgy, steel industry, and hydrogen-based processes. His office hours are on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 12:00.
- Contact: Tel. +39 0832 29 7357
Research Interests: His work focuses on the correlation between physical, chemical, and microstructural properties of metallic materials and their mechanical behavior. Key areas include:
- Production and characterization of surface coatings via thermochemical treatments (carburizing, nitriding) and cold spray technology
- Multi-objective optimization of steel production processes to reduce emissions (CO2, dioxins)
- Mechanical and microstructural analysis of nanocrystalline alloys (Ni-P, Al-Mg-Fe) and superplastic materials
- Numerical simulation of crack propagation and industrial processes (welding, heat treatments)
- Friction Stir Welding (FSW) of aluminum alloys and composites
Teaching: He teaches courses such as Metallic Materials for Aeronautics (Master's Degree) and Metallurgy for Ecological Transition, covering topics like aerospace material selection, solidification, heat treatments, and alloy design. His teaching methodology includes lectures, group projects, and remote instruction during health directives.
