Pascale Aebischer

Pascale Aebischer is a Professor of Shakespeare and Early Modern Performance Studies at the University of Exeter, specializing in the performance history of early modern drama from the 1580s–1700 and contemporary digital performance. Her research spans Shakespeare studies, Victorian literature, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on live performing arts.

Her work examines intersections between historical performance practices and modern technologies—from candlelight to live theatre broadcasts—and she has led major initiatives like the AHRC-funded The Pandemic and Beyond project, analyzing the arts and humanities' role in pandemic recovery. She is currently researching Shakespeare and Peele's Titus Andronicus in decolonial contexts, focusing on themes like migration, sexual violence, and religious conflict.
