Pascal Chartrand is a Full Professor at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. His research focuses on molecular imaging of RNA dynamics, telomerase biology, and mechanisms underlying Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1. Chartrand leads a lab using cutting-edge microscopy and genomic approaches to study RNA trafficking and its role in disease.
He has held prestigious awards including the FRQS Research Chair (2015-2019) and multiple FRQS/FCAR scholarships. His work bridges basic science and translational research, with over 60 publications in top journals like Science Advances and Molecular Cell.
Key contributions include discovering TERRA's role in telomere regulation and developing tools like CoPixie for tracking telomerase activity. Chartrand collaborates internationally, contributing to biochemistry, cell biology, and RNA medicine fields.
