Professor Pascal Carrive is a faculty member in the Department of Physiology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), within the Faculty of Medicine & Health. His research focuses on the brain networks controlling psychological stress responses, particularly cardiovascular and thermogenic reactions to emotional stress in rodents. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (1989) and teaches Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience to medical and science students. His work includes studies on orexin receptors' role in central cardiovascular control during stress, supported by grants such as the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation Grant (2023-2025). He is affiliated with the International Society of Autonomic Neuroscience (ISAN) and the Australasian Society of Autonomic Neuroscience (ASAN). His research spans autonomic nervous system modulation, anxiety disorders, and neural pathways involved in stress responses.
**Grants & Funding**: Current grant (co-PI) from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Past funding from NHMRC and the National Heart Foundation.
**Publications**: Over 100 journal articles, 12 book chapters, and contributions to books. Key research areas include stress-induced cardiovascular changes, behavioral responses to fear, and neurobiology of social defeat. His lab location is Room 253B, Wallace Wurth Building, UNSW.
