Parvin Ghafarian

Dr. Parvin Ghafarian serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), Prince George campus. Her research specializes in applying numerical weather prediction and climate models to analyze extreme climate phenomena, with focused expertise in simulating wind fields, convective storms, lake-effect snow, and extreme precipitation events within complex terrain and coastal regions.

Her core research interests span Climate Change, Earth Science, Natural Hazards, and Weather, emphasizing high-resolution modeling of meteorological extremes. Dr. Ghafarian actively integrates artificial intelligence methodologies to enhance predictive accuracy in wind speed modeling, addressing critical challenges in geographically constrained environments where traditional forecasting systems face limitations.
