Dr. Parvathi Menon is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Sydney's Westmead Clinical School, affiliated with the Brain and Mind Centre. Her research focuses on neurophysiological mechanisms in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), particularly cortical hyperexcitability, motor neuron dysfunction, and diagnostic biomarkers. She has contributed to studies on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), muscle ultrasound, and the role of cortical circuits in ALS pathophysiology.
Her work emphasizes ALS diagnostics, including the split-hand index and gold coast criteria. She has investigated therapeutic interventions like CNM-Au8 and Riluzole, and explored neuroinflammation and TDP-43 proteinopathies in neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Menon collaborates on international studies and has led grants addressing ALS progression and biomarkers.
Recent publications (2025–2013) highlight advancements in cortical dysfunction modeling, disease progression biomarkers, and therapeutic efficacy. Her research bridges clinical neurology with neurophysiological techniques to improve ALS diagnosis and treatment strategies.
