Parul Singh is a Research Fellow in the 4A Laboratory: Art Histories, Archaeologies, Anthropologies, Aesthetics at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (May 2021–May 2024). She holds a Ph.D. from the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Her research focuses on the visual and cultural history of Awadh, particularly the reign of Wajid Ali Shah (1847–1856), exploring how visual culture reinforced royal power and mediated socio-political dynamics between the king and the British East India Company.
- Research Interests: Qaiserbagh complex, Awadh culture, Wajid Ali Shah’s court, cultural negotiations, and transnational metaphors in art and architecture.
- Awards: NTICVA UK Visiting Fellowship, Inlaks Shivdasani Travel Grant, and others.
Her current project examines the Qaiserbagh palace complex as both a physical and symbolic space, analyzing its role in royal identity, cultural diplomacy, and its entanglement with broader socio-political networks in 19th-century Lucknow.
