Professor Parmesh Ramanathan is a faculty member in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on wireless and wireline networks, mobile computing, real-time systems, and genomic networks. He collaborates with experts in biochemistry, chemistry, and engineering to develop computational tools for genome-aided biodesign and metabolic pathway optimization. His recent work includes advancements in millimeter-wave communication, privacy-preserving genomic data processing, and fault-tolerant computing.
- Education: PhD (1989), MS (1986) from University of Michigan; B.Tech (1984) from Indian Institute of Technology.
Research interests span network architectures, quality of service (QoS), and interdisciplinary projects in bioengineering. He has received prestigious awards such as the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship (2017) and IEEE Fellow (2023).
His publications highlight contributions to millimeter-wave networks, genomic data privacy, and machine learning in metabolic engineering. He teaches courses like Real-Time Computing Systems and supervises master’s and doctoral research.
