Parisa Ariya

Parisa Ariya is a James McGill Professor of Chemistry and Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences at McGill University, holding a Canada Research Chair (Tier I equivalent). Her interdisciplinary research bridges analytical, physical, and environmental chemistry with a focus on atmospheric nanoparticles, climate interactions, and sustainable technologies.

Research explores physicochemical processes at air-snow-water interfaces, nanoparticle behavior, atmospheric microphysics, and emerging contaminants like nanoplastics. She develops cutting-edge detection methods including 4D nanoparticle tracking and AI-assisted characterization, alongside sustainable remediation technologies using natural materials.

Recent publications demonstrate leadership in atmospheric chemistry (aerosol-cloud interactions, wildfire impacts), pollution monitoring (nanoplastics, black carbon), and green technology (rare earth recovery, clay-based remediation).
