Dr. Paris Fokaides is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Frederick University’s School of Engineering. He leads the Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG), focusing on sustainable energy technologies, energy assessment of the built environment, and alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His work emphasizes renewable energy integration, smart building design, and energy efficiency in Mediterranean climates.
Research interests include:
- Energy-efficient building technologies
- Smart cities and digital twins
- Climate change adaptation strategies
- Circular economy applications in construction
Key contributions include developing the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) framework and advancing energy policies for nearly-zero energy buildings (nZEB). His interdisciplinary approach bridges engineering, environmental science, and public policy to address global sustainability challenges.
Publications focus on digital twin technologies, energy policy analysis, and building sustainability assessments. Current projects explore AI-driven energy audits, urban climate adaptation plans, and lifecycle assessments for bio-based materials.
