Dr. Paris Chronakis is a Lecturer in Modern Greek History at Royal Holloway, University of London. His research focuses on transitions from empire to nation-state, interethnic relations among Jews, Muslims, and Christians in the Mediterranean, and digital Holocaust Studies. He leads the undergraduate History programmes, overseeing curriculum development and student support as the UG Education Lead. Chronakis co-created the Database of Greek-Jewish Holocaust Survivors’ Testimonies, a unique digital archive blending scholarship and memorialization. His recent monograph, The Business of Transition, examines Salonica’s merchant elites during Ottoman-Greek rule and won the 2024 National Jewish Book Award. Current projects include research on Balkan War refugees and Greek Jewish cemeteries post-Holocaust. He teaches modules on global refugees, Mediterranean history, and digital-age academic skills.
