Pariroo Rattan is an incoming Weinberg College Postdoctoral Fellow in Science in Human Culture and the Department of Sociology at Northwestern University, following her recent PhD completion at Harvard University where she was affiliated with the HKS Science, Technology and Society program and earned a secondary field in Music.
Her research investigates the moral politics of digital economies through ethnographic fieldwork on biometric/payment system adoption by street vendors in New Delhi, comparative analysis of citizen resistance to data regulation across US/EU/China, legal evidence politics in the Harvard affirmative action case, and acoustic dimensions of urban economies. Methodologically grounded in ethnography, her work bridges sociology, STS, and urban studies with interdisciplinary approaches to digital governance and sensory politics.
