Paras Patel

Paras Patel, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine. He serves as Division Program Director for the Infectious, Inflammatory, and Immunologic Disease Division. His clinical roles include infectious diseases staff physician positions at Johnson City Medical Center, Indian Path Medical Center (Kingsport, TN), and Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Mountain Home, TN).

Education: MBBS from University of Gujarat (1997), followed by General Surgery residency at Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad (1997-2000). Completed Internal Medicine residency at Quillen College of Medicine (2002-2004), followed by Infectious Diseases fellowship there (2006-2008). Board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM, 2005) and USMLE Step 3 (2003).

Research interests focus on infectious diseases and immunology with emphasis on critical care applications. Has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters in his field.
