Paolo Santori is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, Tilburg University. He holds a Ph.D. in Sciences of Civil Economy from LUMSA University (Rome) and has been awarded the Italian National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor in Economic History. His research bridges philosophy, theology, and economics, focusing on historical figures like Aquinas, Smith, and Genovesi, and contemporary issues such as meritocracy, care ethics, and political liberalism. He is a member of the Economy of Francesco Foundation and collaborates with the School of Civil Economy. Santori’s work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to address economic inequality and ethical market practices.

Research Interests: History of Economic Thought, Theology and Economics, Business Ethics, Medieval Philosophy, Meritocracy Critique. He explores theological roots of modern economic ideas and feminist alternatives to neoliberalism. Recent work includes studies on Adam Smith’s libido dominandi, Rawls’ justice principles, and Mary Wollstonecraft’s critiques of commercial modernity.
Publications: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles and books, including Thomas Aquinas and the Civil Economy Tradition (Routledge, 2021). His work spans journals like Journal of the History of Economic Thought and Modern Theology.
Awards: Italian National Habilitation as Associate Professor (2022).
Collaborations: Leads the EoF Academy, collaborates with the School of Civil Economy, and contributes to the Happiness Economics and Interpersonal Relations (HEIRS) network.
