Paolo Salaris

Paolo Salaris is Associate Professor at the University of Pisa's Department of Information Engineering and Research Centre 'E. Piaggio'. He researches optimal control, path planning, and visual servoing for robots with limited sensing. Salaris won the IEEE IROS Novel Technology Paper Award (2012) for synergy-based hand pose sensing and coordinates the EU project DARKO. He teaches robotics and mentors PhD students in humanoid motion planning and active sensing control.

His current work includes perception-aware trajectory generation, adaptive control for dynamical tasks, and risk-aware navigation. Salaris collaborates with Inria and LAAS-CNRS, focusing on bridging geometric principles from human motion to robotic applications.
