Paolo Pellegrini serves as Full Professor of Italian Philology and Linguistics at the University of Verona's Department of Cultures and Civilizations. He holds leadership positions as Coordinator of the PhD in Philology, Literature and Performing Arts, and Director of the Laboratory of Medieval and Dante Studies (LaMeDan).
His research expertise centers on Italian Philology and Linguistics with specialized focus on Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio; vernacular language and literature of the early centuries; classical tradition in Humanism; and history of linguistics and philology. Professor Pellegrini's scholarly work spans medieval and modern philological studies with significant contributions to textual scholarship and editorial techniques.
He maintains an extensive international academic profile with visiting fellowships at K.U. Leuven, Catholic University of Pilicsaba (Budapest), Harvard University (Houghton Library), and Columbia University Italian Academy for Advanced Studies. His expertise is recognized through invitations to speak at Columbia University, University of Notre Dame, New York University, Normal University of Beijing, and University of Helsinki.
Professor Pellegrini coordinates the International Summer School of Dante Studies (Catholic University "S. Cuore" Milan - University of Verona) and serves on multiple prestigious academic committees including the Deputazione di Storia Patria per le Venezie, Veneranda Accademia Ambrosiana in Milano, and Accademia di Agricoltura, Scienze e Lettere di Verona. He is also an affiliate of the Center for Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
He contributes to public intellectual discourse through writings for the cultural supplement Alias – Il Manifesto and has published significant scholarly works including "Dante Alighieri. Una vita" (Einaudi 2021) and "Storie d'amore per lo studio" (Einaudi 2023).
