Paolo Pelagatti is an Associate Professor at the University of Parma, Department of Chemistry, Life Sciences and Environmental Sustainability. His research focuses on Materials Chemistry and Green Chemistry, particularly the design of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for environmental and agricultural applications. He has led collaborations with institutions like the University of Milan, University of Turin, and Cape Town University, along with industrial partners Green Innovation GmbH and UPM-Kymmene.
- Professor (Associate) since 2014
- Editor of Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group)
- ORCID: 0000-0002-6926-2928
- h-index: 30
Research Themes: Development of porous materials for CO₂ capture and essential oil delivery, lignin functionalization for sustainable pesticides, mechanochemical synthesis protocols, and structural characterization of coordination polymers. His work intersects Inorganic Chemistry and Environmental Science, emphasizing crystal engineering and solid-state reactivity.
Scientific Contributions: Over 146 publications, 90+ peer-reviewed articles, and multiple patents. Key projects include EU-funded initiatives with Green Innovation GmbH and UPM-Kymmene for lignin-based agrochemicals. He serves as Vice-President of the Chemistry Degree Council and Delegate in the Interuniversity Consortium C.I.R.C.C. His lab investigates MOFs, wheel-and-axle complexes, and solid-state transformations via X-ray diffraction and mechanochemistry.
