Paolo Matteis

Paolo Matteis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT), Polytechnic of TURIN. He is a member of the College of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering and teaches courses including Materials for Lightweight Design, Materials for the Mechanical Industry, and Mechanics of Materials/Mechanical Metallurgy across academic years 2019/20–2025/26.

His research interests span metallurgy, steels, aluminum alloys, hydrogen embrittlement, historical metallurgy, and mechanical properties. He leads research projects in metal engineering and aligns his work with SDG Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

Recent publications focus on steel microstructure optimization, composite material synthesis, and historical metallurgy. His work connects to industrial applications such as automotive structures, hydrogen compressors, and dental implants.

Professor Matteis manages multiple research projects like "Multi-material joining technologies for automotive structures" and "Hydrogen embrittlement of high strength steels and aluminum alloys." He also oversees commercial consulting in steel and titanium component failure analysis.

Labs under his affiliation include the X-ray Laboratory, Optical Microscopy Laboratory, Electrochemical Measurements Laboratory, Mechanical Testing Laboratory, and Heat Treatment Laboratory 1, all within DISAT.
