Paolo Gallo

Paolo Gallo is Associate Professor in Neurology at the University of Padua, School of Medicine, where he serves as Head of the Multiple Sclerosis Centre of the Veneto Region and University Hospital, Director of the Degree Course on Neurophysiology Technicians, and Responsible of the Cerebrospinal Fluid and Neuroimmunology Laboratory within the Neurology Clinic.

Professor Gallo's research integrates clinical neurology with advanced neuroimmunological techniques, focusing on Multiple Sclerosis pathogenesis through non-conventional MRI analysis of CNS white/grey matter, trans-synaptic degeneration in optic pathways, cerebellar contributions to cognitive decline, and early-phase cortical metabolism biomarkers. His work bridges laboratory neuroimmunology with clinical applications in inflammatory CNS diseases.

With over 200 peer-reviewed publications (Scopus H-Index: 44, 6000+ citations), his scholarly impact spans international clinical trial leadership and neuroimaging methodology development.

He actively contributes as principal investigator in >30 international phase I-III clinical trials, advisory board member for MS therapies, and reviewer for major neurology journals while organizing global conferences and courses.

Professor Gallo directs the Cerebrospinal Fluid and Neuroimmunology Laboratory, a core facility supporting the Multiple Sclerosis Centre's translational research and clinical operations across the Veneto Region.
