Paola Profeta is Full Professor of Public Finance at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi's Department of Social and Political Sciences. She serves as Dean for Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability, Director of the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality, and Director of the MSc Politics and Policy Analysis program. Additionally, she directs the Diversity & Inclusion Management Course at SDA Bocconi and sits on the Management board of the International Institute of Public Finance.
Her research focuses on gender economics, women in politics, gender equality policies, female leadership, public economics, welfare systems, comparative taxation, and political economy of taxation and welfare state. Recent publications examine time pressure effects on gender gaps in education, smart working economics, and gender dynamics in taxation and redistribution.
Notable scientific awards include three consecutive Excellence in Research Awards (2022-2024) from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi. She has authored numerous publications in top journals including PNAS, Management Science, and Journal of Public Economics.
