Paola Morgavi is a Professor of Instruction in Italian at Northwestern University, specializing in language pedagogy and technology integration. She holds a Laurea in Lettere from the University of Genoa and an MA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From 2012 to 2024, she served as Director of the Italian Language Program and developed curricula for advanced Italian language instruction. She co-authored courses with Harvard’s Elvira G. Di Fabio and designed workshops for ACTFL, focusing on enhancing student performance. Morgavi has held leadership roles in AP Italian Language and Culture committees and served as Chief Reader for the AP exam (2016–2020).
Her research emphasizes technology’s role in language learning, notably receiving a 2023 Educational Technology Fellowship to develop vocabulary-learning apps. She is actively involved in professional organizations like the Osservatorio della Lingua Italiana and serves on Northwestern’s Language Proficiency Committee and Council on Language Instruction. Morgavi advises Fulbright applicants and has been recognized for teaching excellence, including multiple ASG Honor Rolls and a 2022 nomination for the Alumni Teaching Award.
