Pankaj Baral is an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology at Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. His research bridges neuroscience and immunology to investigate neuroimmune mechanisms in infectious diseases, with significant contributions to understanding neuronal regulation of host defense in respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. Using multidisciplinary approaches including single-cell analysis, animal models, and neuroimmunology techniques, his research identifies neuronal mediators (e.g., neuropeptides, neurotransmitters) as potential therapeutic targets for infectious and inflammatory diseases.
