Panagiotis Markopoulos

Panagiotis Markopoulos is the Director of the Master of Science in Counseling Program and an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Upper Iowa University's School of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans, along with master’s degrees in Social Theology (National & Capodistrian University of Athens) and Mental Health Counseling (Eastern Kentucky University). His research focuses on applying virtual reality (VR) technology to treat children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

He has received recognitions for his VR-in-ASD research and frequently presents at national/international conferences. He also hosts educational events on Autism and clinical resources.

Professional Contributions: Prior to UIU, he served as faculty and Clinical Counseling Lab Director at the University of New Orleans. His work bridges technological innovation with clinical practice, particularly in neurodevelopmental disorders.
