Panagiotis Kyritsis

Panagiotis Kyritsis is an Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of transition metal complexes, particularly those involving chalcogenated ligands, with applications in catalysis and magnetism. He has held academic positions since completing his PhD in 1993 and has contributed extensively to the field through over 60 peer-reviewed publications.

• Educations: B.Sc. (1987), Ph.D. (1993) in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford and CEA Grenoble.
• Research interests include coordination chemistry, catalytic reactions (hydroformylation, C−C coupling), and magnetic properties of transition metal complexes.

His research group has explored the structural and electronic properties of metal complexes with imidodiphosphinato ligands, investigating their applications in single-molecule magnets and catalytic systems. Notable contributions include studies on Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes with Se/S coordination, as well as their roles in water oxidation and bioinorganic systems.

Publications span topics like catalytic reactivity, structural characterization via X-ray crystallography, and magnetic anisotropy. Collaborations include work with institutions in the U.S., Germany, and Czech Republic. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Transition Elements Chemistry and Inorganic Structure & Reactivity.
