Pamuk Şevket is a Professor of Economics and Ottoman History at Boğaziçi University since 1994, concurrently affiliated with the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History. He held visiting roles at institutions including the London School of Economics (2008-2013), Princeton University, and the University of Michigan. His academic journey includes professorships at Villanova University and the University of Ankara.
Education:
- B.A./B.S. Yale University (1972)
- M.A. & Ph.D. in Economics, University of California, Berkeley (1974-1978)
Research Focus: Specializes in economic history of the Ottoman Empire, southeastern Europe, and modern Turkey. Key areas include monetary history, standards of living, prices/wages analysis, and long-term economic growth. His work bridges institutional economics and historical analysis.

- Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs (Provost) at Boğaziçi University (2000-2004)
