Pamela Ruegg is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Michigan State University (MSU), holding the David J. Ellis Chair in Antimicrobial Resistance. She previously served as Chair of the Department of Animal Science (2017–present) and held roles at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Atlantic Veterinary College. Her expertise spans epidemiology applied to animal health and milk quality, with a focus on bridging research to practical dairy farm applications.
Ruegg’s research emphasizes antimicrobial resistance, mastitis management, and bovine microbiome studies. She leads a USDA-funded project investigating how dairy cattle microbiomes influence antibiotic resistance. Over 130 peer-reviewed publications and numerous awards highlight her impactful work.
