Dr. Pamela Palmater is Professor and Chair in Indigenous Governance at Toronto Metropolitan University's Department of Politics and Public Administration. A Mi'kmaq lawyer from Eel River Bar First Nation, she holds a J.S.D. from Dalhousie University and specializes in Indigenous rights, governance, and constitutional law.
Her research examines treaties, land rights, Indigenous citizenship, and self-determination. Recent publications critically analyze Canada's policies toward Indigenous peoples, addressing systemic racism, resource development conflicts, and reconciliation frameworks.
