Pamela Munster is a Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), serving as Program Leader for Development Therapeutics and Principal Investigator of a NIH-funded basic science lab. Her work focuses on translating preclinical epigenetic research into early-phase clinical trials for advanced cancers, emphasizing therapy-resistant mechanisms and molecular imaging. She has led over 20 NIH-funded grants since 1998, including studies on HDAC inhibitors, PARP potentiation, and implantable drug delivery systems.
- Education: MD from University of Bern (1990), Postgraduate MD Thesis (1992), Baccalaureate in Sciences from Kantonsschule Sargans, Switzerland (1983)
- Key Research Themes: Epigenetic therapy resistance in breast cancer, hormone therapy sensitivity, DNA damage repair pathways
- Recent Awards: AACR-AFLAC Young Investigator Award (1999-2001), Don Shula Career Development Award (2003-2008)
Her publications highlight innovations in synthetic lethality strategies, targeted therapies for HRD-deficient tumors, and novel drug delivery systems like long-term fulvestrant implants. She has pioneered first-in-human trials for EED inhibitors (MAK683), WEE1 inhibitors, and PPARα antagonists.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Development Therapeutics Program at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in translational oncology and molecular imaging.
